To be in National Capital , for the first time (outside IndiraGandhi Airport) is a feeling never be forgotten. As a kid, I never imagined one day I will visit those places which I used to study in textbooks. Red Fort, Raj Ghat, Kutub Minar, India Gate.
We were very much tired when we reached Delhi. We used public bath for freshening up. Took a Delhi tour with a private vehicle. When we got down from bus near Delhi Bus stand from our Volvo bus, we had many plans other than what we planned.
Plan B :
- Use cloak room in New Delhi Metro station ( to deposit our luggage). From this station Airport express will go.
- Take a tour in metro.
- Comeback to station where we had kept luggage.
- From that station take Metro to airport.
But taxi took us to a private tourist vehicle which took us to famous places of Delhi. Since we had very less time and tourist vehicle gave very less time to see the place, we couldn't explore much. I have a plan to visit Delhi to explore the inside flavor of city, then I will write in more detail. We paid Rs 400/ person to Delhi Darshan. I thought it was worth, because we managed to see most of the places. If we would have gone by our own, we would have visited 2 or 3 places.
Red Fort
To explore Red Fort you require more time nearly 4-5 hours. But we got 2 hours to explore Red Fort. There is museum(Freedom fighter special), war memorial and then small bazaar where you will get bags, clothes in cheaper rate. Ticket price for Red Fort was 15 Rs including museum ticket.
First we went to museum. I was very much thrilled to see such a huge information about our freedom fighters. In fact this is the best informative museum I have visited till now. Since photography is not allowed, I couldn't take any photos.
Then we went to War memorial and skipped Forgotten heritage.
In War memorial we have galleries of weapons used by soldiers from Moghul period to world wars.
There are galleries which depicts different period and weapons.

Raj Ghat
Raj Ghat : Gandhiji's memorial |
Then we went to Raj Ghat, a memorial to Mahatma Gandhiji. Hey Ram was written on the memorial.
Parliament and Rashtrapati Bhavan
We spent few minutes in front of Parliament House and Rashtrapati Bhavan. I guess, You find chats in every tourist center in Delhi. Delhi is famous for chats when comes to food and we had plan to visit Chandini Chowk only to taste chats but that didn't work out.
India Gate
India Gate is a war memorial built for soldiers who died in World war 1 and Third Afghan war. Soldier's name is inscribed on the arch. There is a small structure called Amar Jawan Jyoti which is built for the memory of Indian soldiers who died in 1971 Bangladesh liberation. We stayed there for 20 minutes and then moved to Indira Gandhi Memorial museum.

Once the residence of Indira Gandhi has been made museum for the people who want to know about the life of Iron Woman Indira Gandhi. Voted as the Woman of Millennium, her life's open pages you can see in this museum. Even we can see the place where Indira Gandhi was killed. It took nearly 40 minutes to cover the museum in hurry. After this we went for lunch near Qutb Minar and had roti curry.

Metro Experience
If you are in Delhi, you have to experience Metro. It was faster than Bangalore Metro and much better experience. We took ticket from Saket to New Delhi metro station. From New Delhi metro station you have to use Airport Express. There are people to help you to take you to airport. You have to give tips to them and they will guide you. We got down in Airocity stop and then took airport bus to reach Terminal 1A where domestic flights will take off. Our Indigo flight timing was 8:30 PM. We had dinner in the airport and at sharp 8:15 PM we were in our flight. Even though it took some time to take off due to some issues but we reached Bangalore safely. It was the best trip I ever had. It would have never possible without Vineeth and Guru. I must thank them for being such a wonderful friends and sharing wonderful moments.
This is how I can express my Himalayan trek and in between Dharmashala and Delhi experience. Your feedback will help me improve my writing skills and further motivate me to write some more post to guide and help fellow enthusiast.
