Daulatabad - A Tughalak Darbar

Daulatabad is nothing but Devagiri we read in the history. I remember Tughalaq drama written by Girish Karnad. It was beautifully written and portrays the foolishness of Mohammad Bin Tughalaq, who shifted his capital from Delhi to Devagiri.

Though we remember this place for the Tughalak drama, it was built by Yadavas during 11th century.

We will get shared auto from Aurangabad to Daulatabad. When we reached Daulatabad it was 9:30 AM. We had breakfast in the nearby hotel. As usual we paid 10 Rs entrance fee to Daulatabad fort

As you enter you will get to see the beauty of fort. There is Chand Minar which is of 70m height.

Andheri is a dark chamber which was used as a defence mechanism was the highlight of the fort.

From the top, the view is very beautiful. You can see the fort boundaries from top. It gives an impression that some of the part is grabbed by people or Government has not taken any serious note in protecting the monuments.

Even the cleanliness is not maintained and the authority has not done any thing to protect the monuments. We can see some scratched name on the wall.  Smoking is not banned here. It was very sad to see the sorry state of such a beautiful fort. Hathi haud is a tank used for warfare.

Apart from that, this was a beautiful fort. Bharat Mata temple is one beautiful creation here.

Then there is a small museum where broken sculptures are kept. These are all attacked by Khilji, Tughalaqs and have been destroyed.

In final note, this is the top 3 place to visit around Aurangabad. Best picnic spot for many.  It has history, war plan in background since this is regarded as an unconquered fort in the history.
