Kabbal Durga - Night trek

KabalDurga is one of the well planned night trek by Nomads. After an unsuccessful night trek to Makalidurga, we decided to go to one more night trek i.e. Kabaldurga. Kabaldurga is 20 km away from Kanakpura and 70kms away from Bangalore. Kabalamma's temple and ruins of the fort is prime attraction of the place. Villagers often visit this place and give poojas.

When Guru plans for the trek, it will be well planned always. As I have mentioned before he is our trek guru and he is very good in exploratory trek. Unlike me he is precise and don't take unnecessary risk. If it can be done, he will come.

We were 10 people. Adarsh, Tejas and Vikas came in their bikes. Guru, Megha, Vineeth, Sanjay and Anand came in Guru's car. I and Arjun came in my activa so we were bit late to reach Kanakpura. Clock was pointing to 11:30 when we both reached Sathnur. Everyone was waiting for us in Sathnur and from there we went together. From Sathnur we took left to reach a village. We parked our vehicle near a small choultry in front of  hill. Though trek is quite easy, since it was night we all walked slowly since the elevation was nearly 70 degree. But there were small steps which we can use.

Since few of them were beginners, they were cautious. Once we reached the top, it was around 3:30 AM. We slept for a while and waited for sunrise.

Climbing down was easy for us and we took only 1 hour to reach the bottom of the hill. In between we saw villagers climbing the hill without any problem. We had butter milk, tender coconut and water melon near the choultry. The villager was very friendly and he was encouraging us to visit some more places nearby. He even told his small kid will take 10-15 min to the climb the hill. We looked at each other when he told about this.

After drinking 2-3 glass of butter milk, we decided to leave. On the way I and Arjun had tasty dosa in a small hotel Aduge mane near Kanakpura. I would add this to one of the best dosa centre around Bangalore. Finally Kabaldurga will remain as the first well organised night trek by Nomads. Thanks to Guru for guiding us.
