First 2 days in Hampi was different. 3rd day when we chose the other side of Tungabadra over Vittala temple, we had no idea about the little explored areas of Hampi.
We crossed the Tungabadra river in a small boat. Though there is a board stating the ticket charge is 10 Rs they took 50 Rs. The boat service will be available from morning 6 to Evening 6. We crossed the river and took a luna for rent. We crossed paddy fields and took a tar road to reach our first destination Anjanadri, the birth place of lord Hanuman.
I thought Anjanadri will be a similar experience we had the previous day. But it was quite different. We parked our vehicle near the entrance. We had tender coconut and then we moved towards the steps. We were hungry but except snacks and biscuits you don't get any thing there.
After climbing around 570 steps we reached the temple. Its a very small temple but very peaceful place. The highlight of the visit was top view from the hill. We were awestruck by the beautiful view from the hill. Entire Hampi can be seen from this hill. We spent about an hour in the hill and then moved to our next destination Pampa sarovar.
Considered as one of the five scared lakes in India, Pampa Sarovar is famous for the mythological event, where Lord Rama meets his greatest devotee Shabri. (I have visited Narayan Sarovar among the other four.) The name Pampa is derived from the form of Parvati who did prayers to impress lord Shiva. Here you can find Lakshi temple, Shiva temple and small Ganesha temple. We played the marble game with kids near the sarovar. Kids allowed us to play with them and they enjoyed playing with us.
Then we went to Anegundi where we had traditional food. Nava brindavana is the place where nine masters of lord Raghavendra died. You have to cross the river to reach the place. Though I am not a very religious person, I loved the journey towards Nav Brindavan. It was one of the beautiful boat ride we had. It took us to a different experience, the prayers and the people every thing took us to Swadesh moment. (Swadesh is an Indian movie where there is a scene he need to cross the river with the villagers.)
We went to some old palaces in between but that is of low significance in this journey. But I want to add Chintamani to the list of must visit places around Hampi. You might find difficult to reach here because its almost inside the village. A small kid was our guide in this hidden mythological beautiful place. This is the place where Vali was killed according to Mythology. There is also a place where Lord Rama lived here. Hampi is more than a mythology. Even if you don't have interest in mythology still you will love the surrounding and nature.
Our next destination was Sanapur lake, the most beautiful place to visit near Hampi. We took a boat ride and also took a small walk to enjoy the the other side of lake which is covered by Tungabadra river. There were some people who were doing cliff diving here.
The below view of Tungabhadra river near to lake is one of the amazing part of my travel dairies. Places like this will make you fall in love with nature again and again. And also lake is one of the best I have seen. I would like to visit this place more often. They have maintained it very nicely. Don't miss this place when you are near to Hampi.
While returning from Sanapur lake, I met Vaibhav and Shruti, my valley of flowers trekmates. Then after crossing river I waited for them and had a short chat with them. that is beauty of travelling. You make friendship with lot of people. And there is more possibility that you will be meeting them again and again. In night we went to one of the restaurant and had onion bajji. Since it was raining outside it was the perfect combination.
The ambience was really good. The red dark room was perfect for sitting and having a sip of tea with snacks. The perfect end to the 3rd day in Hampi. I am not not going to forget this beautiful day for such a wonderful experience. All the places mentioned here are must visit places and you can reserve a day for this journey.
Hampi is more than a mythology. More you explore, more you will be thrilled.
