Lonavala - a ride with the nature

I was waiting for Udhyan express in Pune railway station. It came little late. Arjun was waving from the train. Finally the journey started. In same train we got down in Lonavala. Oue destination was Youth hostel Malvali. Malvali is two stop from Lonavala but comes between Pune and Lonavala. Since local trains move very slowly we didn't catch local train from Pune. Instead we got down in Lonavala and from Lonavala we took local train. 

Malvali

Malvali is a small village near lonavala. There is a youth hostel in this village and you find this village very peaceful. For youth hostel members you get a room with 2 beds for 500 Rs. You can get Dormitory for 200 Rs/ person. Since the village is remote, he can arrange food there only and he will charge 100 Rs for lunch/dinner. We stayed for 2 days and the food was really good. You will get 1 sabji, chapathis, rice and dal.  Take your membership card if you are planning to stay here.

Lonavala

After completing Lohagad trek, next day morning we went to Lonavala. We roamed around Lonavala. Lonavala's narrow roads and small shops reminded me my home town, but cooler and remote than my place. I found one or two udupi hotels. Lonavala chikki is very famous. Even gum chocolates are most seen. Since I thought it will not lost long in my packed bag, I didn't purchase a single pack. Arjun took one pack. We had sabudana kichdi and Poha for breakfast in udupi hotel.  Then we took information about Rajmachi and other places and we came back to Malvali.

We covered Lohagad, Baje caves , Karla caves, which I have explained in detail in next blog.

•  Other than that you can have Rjamachi trek , which is much beautiful than Lohagad. For Rajmachi trek , you have two routes , one plain route from Lonavala and another from Kajrat. The route via Kajarat is slightly difficult but beautiful. Best time to do trek is during rainy season. 
• Kandala is another hill station near to Lonavala. They both together form the beautiful tourist destination.
• Bhushi dam is one popular destination. There are 2-3 dams nearby
• Along with Lohagad, there is visapur fort which is near to Lohagad. 
• Bedse cave and lions point re some of the places you can visit.

There are many beautiful places near by. But these are the places I heard more during my visit.
