Kasargodu - God's own country again.

When you have something special in your own country, why you have to visit other country? India has the most beautiful places and Kerala tops the list. As I have mentioned in the previous posts about Kerala, it has the beautiful beaches and vegetation. Kasargodu is truly one of the amazing place to visit in Kerala.

Thonikadavu (Contact person : Rathnakaran 9847410210)

After Pooji's marriage (From previous post Puttur-Mangalore), next day we planned for Kasargodu. From last 4 years I was planning for Bekal fort. And finally it was time for clearing one of my bucket list. But our first stop was Thonikadavu, few kilometers away from Kasargodu. Rathnakaran who owns this plantation guided us in phone call. After coming to Kasargodu, we had breakfast. Appam with vegetable curry and puttu kadala was tasty. You can smell coconut oil from the food. Then Rathanakarn guided us to his own plantation. We left our car in Kasargodu since he told we need to pay for his jeep.

Our first conversation started with his introduction and his plantation information. He is a graduate and he changed his plantation into tourist spot after he started taking care of the plantation. A commendable job I must say. He has enough knowledge about farming and also business.

He prepared a bamboo hat for us and also taught us how to prepare it. Then we moved to man made caves. I alone went till few distance. Vinay was little scared and didn't followed me into the cave.

Then we went for fish spa. That was quite different from the one we had in resorts in Bangalore.

Then we moved to the natural falls inside the plantation. We played in water for more than an hour. This was probably the plus point of this plantation. It was clean and water was falling with little force. People from Bangalore might like this place the most.

Then we moved towards the river which is adjacent to the plantation. Since water level was little higher we didn't dare to get into water. A 3-4 hours spent in this plantation made me to think about improving the tourism in western ghats without disturbing the nature.

The fruits he gave from his plantation was fresh and tasty. Finally we wrote our feedback and returned back to Kasargodu in the same Jeep.  Rathnakaran was very friendly and he communicated in Kannada, that made us little closer to him. Since Kasargodu is bordered to Karnataka, most of the people know Kannada. Thonikadavi is little costly since he charges 700 Rs/per person. But we negotiated to 2000 for group + 500 for Jeep . And even he charges 500 for food which is too costly.

Madhur temple

Kasargodu temples have the same architecture of Tulunadu temples. Madhur Vinayaka temple is one of the famous temple in Kasargodu on which many mythological stories have been built.  People say, Tippu Sultan left the idea of destroying this temple after drinking water outside the temple.

Temple will be open for Darshana from 5 AM to 1:30 PM and again opens at 5:30 PM will be open till 8:00 PM. Avoid visiting this temple during rainy season since it will be filled with water from overflowing neighbouring river.

There is one more beautiful temple ; Ananthpura lake temple which we missed to visit. There are many places to visit but we moved towards Bekal fort which is the prime attraction of Kasargodu.

Bekal fort

Bekal fort is one of the beautiful fort with a beautiful background of Arabian sea. That really makes it the best place to witness the sunset in Kerala.

From the top of the fort, you can view the whole city. Wikipedia says it is constructed by our own Shivappa Nayaka of Keladi. Due to the maritime importance, so many wars have been fought to capture this fort. The garden and the fort combination has given the cutting edge to the place. But what makes this place, one of the most beautiful fort to visit is it's proximity to Arabian sea.

Look at the sequence of pictures below. It gives you the feeling of  wowness. Sunset at bekal fort is synonym for Amazing experience. It looks like the cover drive of Virat Kohli, Pull shot by Ricky Pointing, Square cut by Dravid and no foot work shot by Sehwag.  I am really finding words to describe the beauty of sunset at Bekal but that is not enough.

I have put more pictures here so that you describe the heaven of Bekal fort and let me plan it for once again :-)

With a lot of beautiful memory, we moved towards Puttur. Bekal fort will always remain close to my heart. Only thing I felt uncomfortable was the more number of people and more noise. This is a place to find your inner soul. Places like this always makes you positive. Infact more positive.

To Travel is to live, To travel is to dream, To travel to find our inner soul.
