Hogenakal is my first trip with Guru. Two of his friends were already ready for the trip. We four went in his car with full of question marks. We had little information but that was not sufficient.

Hogenakal falls is in Tamilnadu but attached to the Karnataka border. This is one of the most controversial place because of Kaveri water. But I don't want to get into any political subject here. It was hot sunny day. We were literally blown by the beauty of falls as well as the hot climate.
Hogenakal is derived from kannada which means smoking rocks. As the water falls on the rocks it appears as a smoke arriving from rock. Hence it has got the name.
Some people go for trekking here and I have not much information about the same.
Best part of Hogenakal is boating. These are bamboo boats and in video you can see those bamboo boats.
Massage is very popular here and I had a horrible experience here. After coming back from this place I had severe back pain. Be careful about having massage from inexperienced people :-P. I don't recommend having oil massage here. Instead I recommend some Ayurvedic massage center in Kerala.
If you are going for boating and massage, keep information about the price before visiting the place. Most of the time people get cheated and the prices are always subject to bargaining.
In spite of all the other factors, Hogenakal stood out as one of the beautiful falls found in south India. If you are in Bangalore and looking for one day outing this is one place you might like.
