Malpe and St. Mary's island

Two marriages and 1 day extra holiday was sufficient to plan for 3 days trip. Naseer was getting married on 25th Jan 2015 in Kapu, Udupi. Vijay was also getting married on the same day in Tumkur. But his reception was on 26th Jan in Shimoga. So we decided to go to Naseer's marriage and on the way decided to attend Vijay's reception. Nothing was planned except we had a plan to visit Kaapu,Malpe and St. Mary's island.

We decided to go in 2 groups. Mithun, Mithun's fiancee Bhavana , Sumanth Shetty came with me in Itios and Bhargavi madam family and Vinay came in Innova. We left Bangalore on Friday night and Bhargavi madam and team were supposed to leave on Saturday morning. We left Bangalore at 10 PM. Since Shiradi ghat was closed, we went through Charmadi ghat. In between we went in wrong route and came back to reach Ujire route. When we reached Kaapu it was 8 in the morning.  We checked out into the hotel Mayura where Naseer has booked 3 room for us. Then we had small nap. After bath we had breakfast and left for Malpe.

St. Mary's Island :

Island can be reached by 2 route. One through Malpe main beach where it will cost you around 150 to 200 Rs per person. But there is separate boat stand for St. Mary's island where you have to take tickets. Once 25- 30 people will gather, they will start taking ticket. Fortunately one college gang was there and very soon we got the ticket. Ticket cost is 100 here.

This island has been the most attractive picnic spot near Udupi. The island has been formed by volcanic activity and is one of the geographical monument of Karnataka.  The time they will give to roam around the island is 1 hour but if tourists are more, you can spend more time without their notice.. Weekends most of the college students near by Udupi, Mangalore will be spending time here. Even the romance filled beach is good place for love birds. But because of deep sea level it is not advisable to get into water after some level.

At 2:45 PM we left island. Again we changed the boat in between and when we reached the other side of island it was 3:30 PM. Naseer was calling us to his home. So we straight away went to his house which was in Padur. We got introduced to the family and then had lunch. I got very close with small kids but was shocked to see God's unfair treatment to Naseer's niece. She is dumb and deaf but was very active. She became very close with me. Still Bhargavi madam were yet to reach Padur. We thought we will miss sun set. So we left for Kaapu beach.

Sun set as it happened :-

We were already late. Couldn't get an opportunity to see the sun set from light house. But we climbed the light house and witnessed the beauty of Kaapu beach from the top.

When we got down from light house, the other team was there. We together went to Naseer's house for dinner.

Malpe Beach

We didn't had sleep the other day.So we decided to sleep in the morning instead of going to Udupi and Kateel. Other team went to Udupi and Kateel. After good sleep we went to Kapu beach. Getting into water in Kaapu is very dangerous. So we decided to go to Malpe. Malpe is a wonderful beach for playing. Jet skiing is one sport which is very popular here. Para sailing is also available. We didn't play any game instead we contented with getting wet in the beach. After that we straight away went to hotel. After attending Naseer's marriage, our next destination was Kundadri.
