When we left Shimla it was 8:25. We have taken ticket to Manali but our destination was Seobagh which is 9 km from Kullu (as per the Google maps). In online it was showing only Manali as destination. We reached Kullu at 3:30 AM. We were feeling cold even after we wore jacket.
In extremely cold climate ,we got down near Seobagh bridge at 4 AM. This pic was taken near bridge at 4 AM. It was dark and terrifying silence was there.
As we moved near the bridge, we heard the gurgling sound of Beas river. The bridge was like hanging bridge and we slowly crossed the brige to move towards Seobagh.
We were not knowing the exact location of Base Camp. So we decided to wait till 5 o clock so that we can call them or ask any one who will be passing by.
We kept all our luggage near Punjab national bank ATM. Guru was moving here and there to see any villagers coming there. Vineeth lied on the floor and I was taking care of luggage.
At 5 AM we saw one person moving towards us. He was one of the YHAI's camp leader. Looking at our luggage he got to know we came for Chandrakani Trek. He introduced himself as Takur. We followed him to reach Base Camp. I will post base camp experience in another blog.
We decided to visit Kullu for some shopping on our the first day in Base camp. We crossed the the same bridge where we landed in the morning. Since it was summer and they store water in dams, water was less. We walked 5-6 km to reach Kullu Bus stop.
Don't rate Kullu on the basis of surrounding of Kullu bus stop. It is surrounded by slum and you feel like leaving the place as early as possible. The government has done nothing to improve the condition here. But the beauty of Kullu is in some interior places.
The temperature was around 25-28 deg. That was enough to drain our energy. We took a shelter in nearby shop and drank some cold drinks. Then we entered the Kullu market. I found so many interesting artistic ornaments. We bought himachali hat. Then we searched for umpire hat for trekking purpose but only got one good hat which Guru bought.
Kullu is famous for shawls which is made up of woolen. Pashmina shawl is one such famous shawl. You find it in variety of colors and variety of artistic designs. We didn't buy a single shawl and the reason we thought that we will get shawls in Dharmashala for cheaper price.
(Note : Dharmashala was our next destination).
Kullu Valley is such a beautiful place, you feel like staying there only. Apart from artistic clothes and valleys, you find many temples. Guru sent the list of temples to visit and I didn't checked the mail. That was the reason we didn't give priorities to temples and left the plan of visiting those spiritual places.
One more beautiful thing about Kullu is beautiful girls. Their artistic make up , hair style, ornaments and their smile made me to fall in love with Kullu. It was indeed a memorable experience. People are so generous and helpful. Now I don't have any doubt why Himachal is such a tourist destination.
