Chandrakani - All that I missed (Main Trek Day 1 -3)

I have been to the extreme end of our beautiful country(Rameshwaram). I have been to most happening place of our nation (Goa). I have been most beautiful creation of the nation, God's own country.(Kerala)I live in silicon valley of India. I come from a place which is near to nation's most famous water falls.(Jog falls). Even I have been to city of Nawabs (Lucknow). But keeping your feet in Himalayas is a special feeling which I can not describe in words. For many people it has been a dream. My best friend SriLakshmi want to visit Himalayan ranges for the divine feeling it gives. For me it is a moment which changed my perception of life. If you can dream it, if you can work on it , you will definitely make it to the top.

As mentioned in the previous posts about preparation and planning we did plan a lot. I reduced 6 kgs and had come with lot of mental preparation. My friends who accompanied me Guru and Vineeth were evenly prepared to meet the Himalayan ranges. All through our trek we were fit and didn't even had a single injury. After himalya we tested our fitness with most difficult trek of our life, Truind.

Day 1 of higher camp, Trek to Yosgo :

I have already mentioned about our base camp and here I am narrating what happened in the main trek event.

Saying bye to tent 5
We boarded the bus from base camp which took us to the Malana dam. Malana dam is very sensitive area and is under security surveillance. We need to take a local guide who is familiar with Malana village otherwise any thing can happen in Malana village,  where villagers think they belong to superior race.

In bus cow boy 1 Mohit, Rupa, Praful bhai and others

We crossed one tunnel and came near Malana village entrance. where people took some rest. Beside the entrance, small river was flowing downward. It was very chilled water and people refilled their water bottle here. .

Praful bhai, absolutely treat to watch

Crossing slowly

look carefully u might slip
We crossed streams, climbed up and down. Finally when we reached our first camp it was 3 PM, we still had lot of energy left. The way YHAI has arranged camping and providing all those beverages like tea, hot soups, juice and bournvita along with delicious food, is admirable. .We were first  served with juice. We were told by our mentors that we should roam around instead of going directly to the tent. That is very much necessary to acclimatize to the cold and high altitude climate.

After 1 hour we had tea and at 5 PM we had hot soup. Then we used to have dinner around 7:30 PM. We used to get up early and freshened up. We used to leave the camp around 7 AM. This routine was same in all camps camps except last but one.

awesome food
For dinner we used to get roti, sabzi, rice, daal. Potato and cauliflower used to be the main ingredients in the food.

In 1st upper camp we became close with the Pune rockers. We 3, isromans and pune rockers slept in ladies tent. Ladies tent was the name written on our tent and we continued to tease our self as  "Ladies Tent wale". Even today while going for any trek I remember Ashesh's father. He was stronger than we youngsters and he inspired us to move with energy and enthusiasm.

Day 2, Yosgo camp to Behali  :

We left the 1st higher camp after having breakfast and our routine instructions. We had a good rest last night and we moved with much more enthusiasm.

Camp 1 top view

look at the roads

Every small roads look like divine path and those ice covered mountains were my imagination of Kailasa mountain.

Houses in Malana village
When we reached the Malana , we were bit cautious. We were told by the instructor not to talk to anybody. We should not take picture of temples dedicated. We should not take pictures of local without their consent. We should move fast and should cross Malana village without any stop. They worship Jamadagni and believe they are descendants of Alexander. Even there is myth that they are Aryans. They don't have any marriage relationship outside Malana.  They have their own parliament and rules.

Move without stop

Malana view

We crossed Malana and stopped near a house where we took rest for a while.

When we reached higher camp 2. Unlike camp1, we didn't have sleeping bags in tents. We took it from the a tent which acted as store room and we needed to return it.

Waiting for bed sheets and sleeping bag

Camp site view

You can't get better place than this place Behali to place the tent. It has all those romantic flavors. River side view, mountain side view, clod weather, no traffic jam and remote place where you can enjoy with your partner. uhh uhh... I have plan to visit this place one more time with special some one whoever comes into my life.

Day 3 Behali campsite to Waching

The most difficult task was to find right place for morning activity.  For ladies there was arrangements for toilet room but we boys crossed stream and searched for places :-D. We don't even dared to touch water which was extremely cold. We used tissue paper. And we were without bath for 4 days.

Morning drill

When we all assembled on call of Camp leader, we knew that we were going to find more snow.

Camp 3

We crossed again many difficult path and reached Waching camp. Even then we were not tired. We were in high altitude and all those pakoda added spices to our journey. Then there was ice ball game. People started hitting every one with ice ball. We mostly sat outside and were enjoying nature. We also knew that what is ahead is difficult part of our trek and we were ready.

Night we had usual routine of antakshari and Guru always used to pass his turn to me. We were just like family and our poet Mohit and antakshari king Gaurav Kulkarni had good collection of songs.
I always remember the team for such a lovely time spent.
