Himalayan Trek : Base Camp Routine and Facilities

As I have told in the previous post, we got settled in the Tent no 5. First day was rest and getting introduced to our routines and plan.  Our group name was CP3.  Mohit and Rohit, my tent mates were also of same group. There were others who belonged to CP2 and they left one day before we left. We went to Kull for shopping. Few people have gone for river rafting which we missed. After coming back from Kullu we were tired and didn't go for any other plan.

In Base camp we had some routine timetable for 2nd and 3rd day.
5:00 AM                           should wake up
5:30 AM                           Bed tea
6:00 AM                           Exercise and jogging
7:30 AM                           Flag off / Send off to other batches
8:00 AM                           Breakfast time
8:30 AM                           Acclimatization or some training
12:00 AM - 2:00 AM         Lunch
5:00 AM                           Tea
7:30 PM - 8:30 PM           Dinner
8:30 PM                           Camp Fire
10:00 PM                         Bournvita and light off.

Exercise helped us a lot in maintaining fitness. In 4 months I have done lot of fitness exercise to maintain fitness and I didn't feel tired after the exercise. But some of the people felt it tough.
I enjoyed the exercise and jogging.

Assembled for CP1 Send off

Flag off means giving send off to the group which is going for higher camps.  Their trekking will start on that day. People will make line on either side to wish them all the best.

CP1 team

After the flag off we were cleaning base camp and after cleaning we used to go for breakfast. After breakfast we used to have some training. On 2nd day we went for acclimatization trekking which is of 5 km. Next day morning we went for rappelling and afternoon we went for Rock climbing.

Camp Fire :

Camp fire doesn't mean that we used to burn wooden pieces. You can see the image to the right. We used to light the tree. Every evening one group has to take the initiative in conducting the cultural program.

I sang one of my poem when CP2 was conducting the program. In our group there were many talented people. Gaurav is having a sweet voice and sang 3-4 songs. Parvez bhai sang his guzzle and kalpana sang one of the kannada song. We had so much fun in camp fire. Rohit went on to dance with his Gujarati people there. It was more than a national integration camp with people exhibiting their culture except the drama when some one nearly mentioned Bangaloreans as coward.  People really don't know about Bangalore.  It is not only IT capital but also hub of adventurous people. It is No 1 when comes to trekking and many adventurous activities according to survey. It is natural because we are surrounded by western ghats and more rich fauna.
