Truind - a place to watch in your life time

Truind , I never heard about this place before. But when I went there, it looked like a place I have known for years. Truind can be reached by 2 routes. One via Gallu Devi temple and another goes through Bhagsu nag falls towards Shiva Cafe.

Generally people start by 6 Am morning. That is the right time to trek to Truind. Because its quite difficult trek and weather is unpredictable. And near the view point you can spend your useful time. Take more water because it is quite a long distance and you don't get water in the middle. Triund was our exploratory trek after completion of chandrakani pass. Its one of the main point of our visit to Dharmashala or McLeod-Ganj. I will breif about my experience in Dharmashala in another post. Here I will explain about our trek to Truind.

We were three : me, Guru and Vineeth. We started our trek on 8th May at 9 Am from our hotel. We stayed in Bhagsu hotel, 10 minutes walk from McLeod-Ganj bus stand. When we talked about Truind, people told us to hire a guide. They also told its very difficult to go by Bhagsu nag temple. Google map shows its 7 km to Truind from Bhagsu nag falls. From Gallu Devi temple also it is 7. Whichever route you use it is same.

We took an auto from bus stand to Bhagsu nag Temple which is 2 km from bus stand and we paid 50 Rs.You can find swimming pool near the holy water deposit.

Near by there is a shop you will find some articrafts and some good books . I bought a book on Himachal tourism "Destination HP finder" which costed around 100.

Step 2

Near to Articraft shop, on right side you will find a board to Bhagsu nag falls. Falls is 10 minutes walk from the board.

We saw the falls and asked for the Truind route in nearby shop. He told tourist will go by Dharmakot route and this route is very risky. A guide charges around 500 for normal trek and 1000 for adventurous trek. We don't know the real meaning of adventour in his terms since we wanted to go by this route only without guide.

There is a Shiva Cafe board if we go back some 10 steps. We climbed up the step till Shiva cafe and then comes the forest route.

Its me confused in choosing the route

We crossed Cafe around 10:30. There is no specific routes . We needed to choose the route cleverly and GPS helped us to some extent. We climbed up with so many glitches and we reached the village of 5-6 house.

The houses are built differently and you can see in the picture on the left side.We wondered how they live here and then we thought that they will also think the same if they come to our cities. We asked the villager for the route to Truind. There after we experienced physically little tougher passage.

In some point it was dangerous and for me rock climbing tricks we did in Chandrakhani helped me a lot. Your 2 legs and 2 hands are useful in rock climbing. While climbing 3 of them should have some support. You should use your crossed fingers of hand to get the grip. You should place your toes in the holes within the rocks or small rocks to climb up.Some how we reached the top of that mountain. Since we were not knowing the route it became difficult for us.

It was the difficult portion of this trek and we were there around 12:45. You can see the view from the peak.

Step 5

Still we had long way to go. We climbed up and saw some 3-4 houses built purely with rocks. A little distance above one small temple also we found.

After we climbed few distance we got this green route. There is also a guest house. We bought one water bottle and sat for few minutes. We found many horses there and we fed them with some food we brought it from hotel. Some tourists book this guest house for stay. Guest house people will arrange tent for them to enjoy the nature.

After we crossed this guest house we saw the flag. In few distance walk, you will get the Truind view point.(3 PM).We stayed there for an hour. There was small rain also and we took shelter in nearby shop where Guru was having his Maggie.
